A place for girls
with no place

In the summer of 2008, Rabbi Zecharya Wallerstein Z”L was aware that too many girls had no school to attend for the following year. His characteristic passion for helping the community’s youth propelled him to open a school. A place where stability, growth and learning would empower struggling young women.
Rabbi Wallerstein’s mission was to empower young girls, one by one, to become healthy, functioning adults. He understood the struggles they were facing, and they in turn trusted him.
The Rabbi was an icon of empowerment, perseverance and unconditional love, the tenets that Bnot Chaya stands on today.

With the help of Dr Mendy Tepler, Bnot Chaya was established in memory of his late wife Chaya Tepler naming the school “The Carol Tepler High school”. Chaya believed that every child deserves the opportunity and support to meet their potential. She was passionate that every child should have a safe space to grow and learn and find themselves.
Dr Tepler, a renowned Orthopedic surgeon and generous philanthropist and his wife Debra, have dedicated significant time and resources to providing quality education for teen girls. Starting with 25 students in its first year, Bnot Chaya has since helped 225 girls find stability and growth, becoming part of the BCA family.

“Zaidy” Ronnie Greenwald was very instrumental in getting the Bnot Chaya dream off the ground. His rich experience in girls’ chinuch injected warmth and positivity into the school from its earliest days.
He was in school often to show potential donors the extent of our work, but mostly he would shmooze with the girls. He was a supportive, caring and calming presence that still lingers in the halls of BCA.
